Pearl E. (Knudtson) Johnson, the daughter of C. Theodore and Clara C. (Simonsen) Knudtson was born May 26, 1920, in Graettinger, Iowa. Pearl passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Rosewood Manor Care Center in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 95.
She received her education in the Graettinger Schools. During World War II, Pearl worked at the Ammunition Plant in Des Moines.
On October 9, 1945, Pearl was united in marriage to Clarence Johnson, Jr. in Jackson, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple lived in Marshalltown where they both worked until moving to Estherville in 1952. She enjoyed reading, baking and sewing. Clarence died in 1987.
Pearl was a past member of South Walnut Lutheran Church near Graettinger and a current member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville. She taught Junior Lutherans, Bible School and Sunday School and was a member of the R.L.C.W., Miriam Circle, and RSVP volunteer.
Left to cherish Pearl's memory is her son, Verle Johnson and wife, Caroline; grandson, Kyle Johnson all of Ottumwa, Iowa; sisters, Ethel Jensen of Jackson, Minnesota and Evelyn Larson of Spencer, Iowa and nieces and nephews.
Preceding Pearl in death are her husband; parents; brothers, Leland; Clifford; and Kenneth; sister, Darlene (Merril) Westrem and brother-in-law, Earnest Larson.
