Lynette M. Crees, daughter of Darwin "Dutch" and Donna (Ostwald) Mahin, was born on July 20, 1953 in Estherville, Iowa. She passed away on February 2, 2019 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 65 years.
She attended Lincoln Central School District in Gruver, Iowa, graduating in 1971. Lynette was united in marriage to Larry Crees in 1974, at the Palestine Lutheran Church in rural Emmet County, Iowa. The couple made their home in Estherville. Lynette spent a majority of her life as a loving and caring housewife to Larry. She loved to help people in need and was a prayer warrior to many. She had testimonies of hope and perseverance with never ending faith in her Lord Jesus. Her words were always an inspiration to others. Many times you would find her sitting and praying with strangers who were in need. She loved to visit the local nursing homes regularly; sharing her love for the accordion with the residents and bringing them stuffed animals and puzzles. Lynette really enjoyed making people smile by wearing a silly hats or costumes.
Family was extremely important to Lynette. She enjoyed spending time with her parents; going to dances and thrift shopping. She was especially proud of her children and grandchildren and they meant the world to her. She had an outpouring love for everyone, including a special love for the animal kingdom. Also, no matter where she was at, she was always worshiping and getting to know God even better. She was often known to get excited in her worship and exclaim "Wahoo" and "Hallelujah."
Lynette is survived by her husband of 44 years Larry Crees of Estherville, her sons Ben (Angie) Crees and their children Gavin and Alexis of Jackson, Minnesota, and Jesse (Tara) Crees and their children Bailee and Grayson of Brandon, South Dakota. She is also survived by her parents Dutch and Donna Mahin of Estherville and her brother Steve (Susan) Mahin of Dunnell, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews.
Lynette is preceded in death by her in-laws Lawrence and Geraldine Crees, her grandparents Bill and Mable Ostwald and Kenny and Vi Mahin, and her brother-in-law Duane Crees.
