Obituary

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the family.

Cody Joe Mustard was born on April 1, 1975 in Estherville, Iowa to Robert Mustard and Susan Egeland. He passed away in rural Estherville on November 9, 2019 at the age of 44 years.

Cody attended and graduated from Estherville High School in 1994. He then attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville and later Iowa State University in Ames, studying computer science. He joined the United States Navy and was discharged due to an injury. He then returned to Estherville. He was employed throughout the years at Day Break Foods, McDonald's, Jamie’s Day Care and Casey's. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville.

Cody was a loving and caring person, who would do anything for anyone. He loved playing games, especially the Play Station 4, with his nieces and nephew. Spending time with his entire family and host of friends was very important to him. He enjoyed the outdoors; camping, fishing, cookouts, and swimming at Pike's Point and King's Point. Cody enjoyed taking taekwondo classes through the ATA Association.

Cody is survived by his parents Sue Dalen of Estherville and Robert Mustard of Marshalltown, Iowa; his siblings Wade (Lisa) Mustard and their son Matthew; Jamie (Dan) Trosin and their children Cheyane, Kaitlyn, Lacey, and Ericka; and Jon Carlson and his daughter Shanna.

He is preceded in death by his brother Todd Mustard, grandparents Jon and Mary Egeland, and his cousin Thomas Bortvit.

Wade, Jamie, & Family... My heart goes out to you, I have no words... but to say that I'm praying for you all, praying that God just wrap His mighty arms around you in the form of other friends & family - not just now but all those moments later when the dust settles, when the firsts come, I pray you'll always have people around to be there with you... share your stories so he'll always be here with you.
Cody was a wonderful guy. I remember in high school we were always in the computer room geekin' out on something... then again later at IA Lakes... when I was in the computer lab - we were always helping each other figure something out. Always thought he was a nice guy! Lost track of him after college, but my prayers will be with all of you!! God Bless You. --- Stephanie (Prince) Napp
