Patricia is the mother of Tammy Kinnetz of Graettinger. Interment services will be held at a later date at Iowaville Cemetery in Selma, Iowa.

Patricia Carol (Smith) Canny, the daughter of Joseph and Ora (Ragar) Smith, was born December 22, 1938, in Hannibal, Missouri. She passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019, at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, Iowa, at the age of 80 years.

At the age of nine Patricia moved with her family to Selma, Iowa, where she continued her education and graduated from Selma High School in 1955.

On September 14, 1956, she was united in marriage to John Canny in Springfield, Missouri. They made their home in Ottumwa, Iowa, where Patricia was employed as a CNA and they began raising their family. Eventually they moved to Wallingford, Iowa and she worked as a CNA, was employed as a cook at Kinnard's Dairy in Estherville and cooked at VFW Post 3388 in Estherville. She retired in the early 1980's and the couple moved back to Ottumwa. John died in 2019 and Patricia moved to Graettinger to make her home with her daughter Tammy. In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting, baking; with pies especially being her specialty. Patricia baked many, many pies over the years for Wallingford American Legion for bingo and various fundraisers.

Left to cherish Patricia's memory are her children, Tammy Kinnetz of Graettinger; and Steven Canny of Silt, Colorado; stepdaughter Cynthia Varadi of Rock Island, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one brother, George Loomis of Jacksonville, Florida.

She has been preceded in death by her husband; son, John; grandson, Christopher Kinnetz; son-in-law, Mark Kinnetz and siblings, Pamela; Annie, Mike and Candance.
