Randall Lee Johnson passed away at his home in Estherville on April 12, 2020 at the age of 65 years.
Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID- 19 pandemic, the family will delay a public memorial service to a later date.
“You want a beer?” were usually the first words out of his mouth whenever you walked into Randall Lee Johnson’s house, he was a great man who enjoyed being a father and loved being a grandpa even more. His hobbies included hunting (wild game as well as arrowheads), golfing, and camping with his family.
In his younger years, dad liked to travel. He used to tell us stories of his shenanigans in Colorado, Utah, Hawaii and other places he visited or lived before he came back to Estherville, Iowa. After meeting our mother he bought a house on 802 North 5th street where he raised us and eventually passed. After retiring from the City of Estherville Water Department in October of 2019, where he had worked for 26 years; Randy could usually be found playing video games on a snowy day; at one of his kids’ houses playing cards or hanging out with his mom (Grandma) Wilma or his special friend Marilyn Garrelts (before her passing). Family was always a priority to him and he was the type of man who was always willing to help but didn’t want you to worry about him. He was a caregiver and a man you knew you could always trust. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of getting to know him and spend time with him.
Comfort is found in knowing that dad is reunited with Grandpa Darryl Johnson, Aunt Barb and Aunt Diane.
