Ronald Eugene Van Sickle the son of Raleigh and Mildred (Brooks) Van Sickle was born May 29, 1934 on a farm near Thor, Iowa. He died on Thursday December 24, 2020 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 86.

He received his education in Gilmore City, Iowa where he graduated in 1952.

On June 12, 1955 he was united in marriage to Joan Raygor in Gilmore City, Iowa. Following their marriage they made their home in Rutland, Iowa where Ron worked for the county. In 1957 they moved to Estherville. Ron worked for John Morrell until his retirement. He also collected and sold antiques with his wife Joan and managed rental properties. He looked forward to his annual fishing trip “up north” with friends. After retirement he also enjoyed traveling and sight seeing with Joan.

Ron was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville.

Left to cherish Ron’s memory are his children, Richard Van Sickle, and his wife, Carolyn of Tuscon, Arizona; Robert Van Sickle and his wife, Sam of Payson, Arizona; and Susan Petersen of Estherville; eight grandchildren, Cynthia, Nick, Brad, Bryan, DJ, Dylan, Dustin and Mia; one great-grandson, Hudson; and his sister, Joyce (Harold) Entgelmeier of Humbolt, Iowa.

He has been preceded in death by his wife Joan, his parents, and siblings Marilyn Van Sickle, Donna Ober, infant sister Maxine, and infant brother Richard.
